3.  SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

SOFTECH has developed, in each area of interest, appropriate information tools for public responsibilities and professionals: specifications and standards, check-lists, urban planning guidelines and pilot design proposals.

SOFTECH disseminates energy technologies in environmentally conscious building design, and involving accompanying preparatory measures. It promotes the rational use of energy, improving energy efficiency in the building design sector, and promotes the wider use of renewable energy sources among practising architects.

The team gained experience in research projects, as well as in technical and financial follow-up of Community funded programmes, as scientific responsible of various EC demonstration projects since 1980.

Among the activities of SOFTECH the following are the most relevant for the profile of the company:

• Scientific partner of the REGENER Project, the European Method for the Environmental Impact Assessment of Buildings, promoted by the European Commission – DGXII

• Project Coordinator of the project supported by the Ministry of Public Building and Works concerning the "Environmental Quality Assessment of Buildings in North Italy"

• Methodological and technical responsibility on "Turin 2010: Environmental Science Park", Feasibility Study, 1996

• Development of BEAMES, a prototype of expert system for the energy auditing of buildings, based on a neural network technique.
